Abuja Drug Crackdown Intensifies as FCT Police Arrest Seven in Wuse 2

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has intensified its campaign against illicit drug activities in Abuja, raiding a location at Lobito Crescent in Wuse 2 and arresting seven suspects over alleged drug-related offences.
The operation, carried out on September 2, 2026, by operatives attached to the Maitama Division, is part of continuing efforts by security authorities to tackle the sale, abuse and trafficking of illicit substances across the nation’s capital.
According to the FCT Police Command, the seven suspects comprise six males and one female.
During the operation, police allegedly recovered different substances, including dried leaves suspected to be cannabis packaged in small transparent sachets, several tablets of Tramadol, a bottle of Codeine and a black polythene bag containing additional dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa.
The development highlights the continuing challenge posed by illicit drugs and the determination of security agencies to disrupt locations suspected of serving as centres for drug-related activities within the Federal Capital Territory.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue.
The command said they would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Beyond the arrests, the police urged Abuja residents to play an active role in the fight against drug abuse, trafficking and other forms of criminality by remaining security-conscious and reporting suspicious activities or locations to security agencies.
The latest operation sends another warning to individuals allegedly involved in illicit drug activities that law-enforcement agencies are stepping up surveillance and enforcement operations across the FCT.
The police also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Abuja while seeking greater cooperation from members of the public.
