EXCLUSIVE: Olu Of Ilaro Allegedly Pressures Baales, Iyalojas To Endorse Senator Yayi

Baales and Iyalojas across Yewaland are reportedly under pressure to publicly endorse Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi’s bid for the Ogun State governorship, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
The endorsement is reportedly scheduled for tomorrow, bringing together Baales and Iyalojas from the five local government areas of Ogun West in Ilaro.
Sources describe the gathering as being orchestrated by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, to secure backing for the endorsement.
A Baale, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, said the exercise is being pursued against the will of many traditional leaders.
“They are threatening us with removal from our positions. They said they are the ones that put us there and they can decide to remove us if we do not fall in line,” the source disclosed.
The source also indicated that leaders are being pressured to choose sides in a politically charged environment.
“We are told that if the town is divided, we must align with the Paramount Ruler,” the Baale added.
Notably, the planned endorsement is reportedly not aligned with the directive of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Efforts to reach Oba Kehinde Olugbenle’s office for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
