Ogun Police Arrest Female Suspect Over Stolen Minibus Repainting, Recover Exhibits in Omu-Ijebu
The Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State has arrested a 22-year-old female suspect, Azeez Khadijat, in connection with a suspected stolen Suzuki minibus that was being illegally repainted in a bush area of Omu-Ijebu.
The operation was carried out by detectives from the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters following credible intelligence about suspicious activities along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu.
Suspected Vehicle Theft and Repainting Operation
According to police reports, three men and one woman were caught in the act of repainting a Suzuki minibus, popularly known as “Korope,” which had no visible registration number at the time of discovery.
The vehicle, originally believed to be yellow, was being resprayed in white and blue colours in an attempt to conceal its identity and avoid detection by security agencies.
On sighting the police operatives, the suspects fled in different directions, but Azeez Khadijat was arrested at the scene inside the abandoned vehicle.
Exhibits Recovered by Police
During a search of the area, officers recovered several items believed to belong to the fleeing suspects, including three mobile phones, one power bank, a paint can, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cable.
The recovered minibus was traced to a Lagos State registration plate, and preliminary investigations suggest it may have been used for criminal activities before being repainted to evade identification.
Investigation and Manhunt for Fleeing Suspects
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the operation.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the swift response of officers and assured that all accomplices linked to the case will be brought to justice.
