President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, resulting in key changes within the Federal Executive Council (FEC), including the replacement of the Minister of Finance.
According to an official memo signed by George Akume, Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa have been directed to step down from their ministerial roles.
Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, will be succeeded by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele. Oyedele, who previously held a position as Minister of State in the ministry, is now elevated to oversee Nigeria’s finance and economic coordination portfolio.
In the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and minister designate, replacing Dangiwa. The outgoing minister has been instructed to hand over responsibilities to the Minister of State pending Darma’s confirmation.
The directive states that all handover processes must be completed on or before April 23, 2026.
Explaining the decision, Akume noted that the reshuffle is aimed at improving governance efficiency, strengthening cabinet synergy, and enhancing economic delivery under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.
President Tinubu also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours, while assuring Nigerians that efforts to strengthen governance will continue.
