2022 IGANMODE FESTIVAL: OGSG PLEDGES FULL SUPPORT


Promised to give adequate facelift to the Culture and Tourism Sector
With ardent determination to promote and preserve cultural heritage, as well as appreciate and remember forebearers who were patriots in Ogun State, the State Government has pledged its full support for the celebration of the 2022 Odun Omo Iganmode Cultural Festival scheduled to hold in December.
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon.Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo gave this assurance at the official unveiling of the logo and theme of the festival held at the Olota of Otta Palace, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege.
Shortly after the unveiling ceremony, Hon. Adijat maintained that the State government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun is an epitome of culture and tradition and would ensure that the indigenous cultural heritage of every nooks and crannies of the State not go into extinction.
Unveiling the logo of the festival themed:
“Culture, Communal Security and Patriotism”, the Commissioner lauded the Olota of Otta, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, and the entire indigenes of Aworiland, for promoting their heritage, saying the celebration of previous festivals have added colour and glamour to the culture of the State, which in turn has boosted the tourism sector and put the state on global map.

Earlier in his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, said the uniqueness of Iganmode annual Cultural Festival is that it promotes and exhibits the exquisite culture and tradition of the Aworis at large, describing it as an avenue for every son and daughter of Aworiland, both at home and in the diaspora to converge and celebrate their past heroes and also chart a course for greater development of their heritage.
Also In his welcome address, Chairman,2022 Central Planning Committee, Aare Dele Bankole said this year’s festival, being the 30th edition, would be celebrated in grand style, as past successes recorded would be built upon, adding that the grand finale for the week-long festival would hold on the 17th of December 2022.
Speaking on the significance of the logo unveiled, High Chief Oladele Adeniji said the logo reveals the weapons of Iganmode, a warlord who used to fight for the peace of Aworiland, noting that the celebration of the festival is an avenue to appease their ancestors for continuous peace and progress for the Awori’s.
