Uche Nnaji Rejects Arrest Warrant Reports, Alleges Political Smear Campaign
Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has denied reports alleging that a court ordered his arrest over certificate forgery allegations, insisting that the claims are false, misleading, and politically motivated.
Nnaji, a prominent political figure in Enugu State and a governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 election, said the reports were part of a calculated attempt to damage his reputation and undermine his growing political influence.
In a statement issued through his media aides, the former minister maintained that he has not evaded any law enforcement agency and remains available to respond to any lawful inquiry. He argued that the allegations being circulated were intended to create unnecessary controversy and distract him from his political engagements.
The controversy emerged following reports linking him to an investigation over alleged irregularities involving academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates. However, Nnaji’s camp insisted that he has not been declared wanted and has not received any valid notice requiring his appearance before investigators.
According to his supporters, the allegations are being amplified by political opponents seeking to gain advantage ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Enugu State. They argued that the former minister has built a strong political base and remains a significant contender in the state’s evolving political landscape.
Nnaji reaffirmed his commitment to due process and the rule of law, urging members of the public to disregard what he described as misinformation aimed at tarnishing his image. He expressed confidence that the facts surrounding the matter would eventually emerge and vindicate him.
Political observers say the controversy is likely to attract increased public attention as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments surrounding the former minister and other aspirants in the state.
