Supreme court clears Alao Akala over 11.5 billion Naira corruption charges

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan the Oyo state capital on Thursday, discharged former Oyo State Governor Adebayo Alao Akala, over charges of corruption levelled against him, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, since 2011 shortly after he left office.
Former Governor Akala, before his discharge on Thursday, was accused by the anti-graft body of misappropriating funds to the tune of 11.5 billion Naira, during his tenure as Governor of Oyo State.
The Ogbomoso – born politician who was the governor of Oyo state between 2007 and 2011 , had been dragged to court for financial misappropriation and fraud shortly after he left office.
