Soludo Urges South-East to Back Tinubu’s Re-election Bid in 2027

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, calling on the South-East to align with the incumbent.
Soludo made the statement during his second-term inauguration in Awka, where he advised the Igbo electorate not to “waste” their votes on candidates with slim chances of winning. He stressed the importance of political strategy and alignment in national elections.
According to him, backing Tinubu would better position the South-East politically, noting that the region’s long-term ambition of producing a president would require careful planning and timing.
The governor also hinted that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), may not field a presidential candidate in 2027, signaling a broader alignment with Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Soludo maintained that governance and development should take priority after elections, urging political actors in the region to focus on collaboration rather than fragmentation.
His endorsement adds to growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and regional leaders begin to position themselves for the next presidential race.
