Scores Defect from APC to APM as Bimbo Adekanmbi Concludes Oyo Statewide Tour

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has recorded a fresh political boost in Oyo State as scores of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the party during the conclusion of its governorship candidate Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi’s statewide thank-you tour.
The grand finale of the tour was marked by a special Juma’at prayer held at the party’s campaign office in Ibadan, where party leaders, supporters and campaign officials gathered to appreciate God for the peaceful completion of the statewide appreciation exercise ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Among the new entrants into the APM were defectors from Ido and Ibarapa East Local Government Areas. Leading the group from Ido was Hon. Olumide Akinola, popularly known as Olumba, who joined the party alongside members of the Olumba Socio-Political Forum (OSPF), a grassroots political organisation with structures across the 12 wards of the council. Members of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) also dumped the APC for the APM, citing lack of political inclusion and unfulfilled promises.
Welcoming the defectors, Adekanmbi assured the new members of equal opportunities within the party, stressing that the APM remains committed to fairness, justice and inclusive governance regardless of members’ previous political affiliations.
He urged the new entrants to work closely with existing party members to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across Oyo State and intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to Adekanmbi, the successful completion of the statewide thank-you tour signals the beginning of a new phase of political engagement aimed at consolidating support for the APM across the state.
He expressed appreciation to party leaders, supporters and campaign officials for their commitment throughout the tour, describing the peaceful conduct of the exercise as evidence of the party’s growing unity and expanding political acceptance in Oyo State.
