A former vice president of Nigeria and a two-time presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has denied reports that he received funds from the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu through Aisha Achimugu as support for his election campaign.
In a statement issued on Thursday, March 27, Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for the former vice president described such report against his principal as “a blatant lie from the pit of hell.

He further queried the possibility that the Lagos State governor would make such financial transaction to an individual he does not know or has ever met.
“We wish to, therefore, state emphatically and for the record that it is a political hatchet job aimed at providing a much-needed justification to jettison Governor Sanwo-Olu, who appears to have fallen out of favour with the “Bourdillon Cult.”
“Indeed, their strategy is two-fold: get rid of Sanwo-Olu and to discredit the coalition being put together by the opposition political leaders, of which Atiku Abubakar is a key stakeholder,” Ibe said.
