President Buhari express sadness over Nasarawa killings, orders immediate investigation, arrest of perpetrators
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed grief over what he described as senseless and baseless murder of 45 farmers following renewed hostilities in Lafia, Obi and Awe Local Government Areas of Nasarawa state.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled ‘Nasarawa killings heart wrenching, President Buhari renewed the commitment of his administration towards the safety of all Nigerians
Earlier, it was reported that at least 20 people lost their lives as herdsmen clashed with Tiv farmers in Nasarawa State between Friday and Monday in an alleged reprisal.
About 5,000 people were also displaced in the attacks in Lafia, Obi and Awe Local Government areas of the state.
In his condolence message, Buhari said “I assure the people with all seriousness and sensitivity that this administration is doing its best to safeguard the security of people and will leave no stone unturned in fishing out the perpetrators of this senseless and barbaric incident, and bring them to justice.”
He also expressed condolences to the government and people of the State and expressed satisfaction with the immediate response of the State government to the incident.
