Breaking: Kwara Police Arrest Portable In Abeokuta Over Alleged Criminal Defamation Among Other Offences
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police has apprehended the well-known music artist, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known as “Portable,” due to accusations of criminal defamation and other related offenses. According to our source, the arrest was prompted by a formal complaint from Mr. Okunola Saheed, known to many as “Osupa.”
In a public statement issued on Sunday night by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Spokesperson, it was confirmed that police detectives from Kwara Command have initiated a thorough investigation into the allegations following proper legal procedures. The petition involves severe accusations such as criminal defamation, life-threatening behavior, incitement, character defamation, actions potentially disturbing public peace, and the use of derogatory language.
In light of these serious accusations and the compelling evidence provided, the Command obtained a legitimate arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court located in Ilorin. Acting on this warrant, officials from the Command traveled to Abeokuta, in Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, where the suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:25 PM. Subsequently, he was escorted to Ilorin for additional investigative procedures.
Upon his arrival, Portable’s statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both the prosecution and defense. He remains in custody as the process to formally charge him in court is underway.
Ejire-Adeyemi emphasized that the Kwara State Police Command is steadfast in its commitment to uphold legal standards and ensure justice is administered fairly and transparently. She encouraged the public to stay calm and avoid disseminating unverified information, assuring that further details on the case will be shared as proceedings advance.
