Expressing his concerns, Obasanjo highlighted the injustice of ex-governors receiving extravagant pensions while ordinary citizens faced unpaid pensions since 2014.

He questioned the morality of such practices, particularly when basic necessities like pensions were neglected.

During his meeting with Governor Otti, Obasanjo praised the governor’s decision to abolish the controversial pension scheme, describing it as a commendable step towards ending the “rascality” prevalent in governance.

He applauded Otti’s leadership and urged other governors to emulate his example, emphasizing the need for accountability and responsible governance.

He lauded Otti’s tenacity and encouraged him to continue providing visionary leadership that fosters economic growth and empowerment for the citizens.

Reflecting on the potential of the South East geo-political zone, Obasanjo expressed optimism about its capacity for regional development.

He emphasized the need for cohesive leadership that harnesses the region’s inherent strengths and encourages enterprise among its people.
