NDLEA Declares Alleged Drug Kingpin, Associates Wanted, Freezes N9.8 Billion Assets
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared an alleged drug kingpin and several of his associates wanted as part of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and organised crime across Nigeria.
The anti-narcotics agency also announced the freezing of assets and funds valued at about N9.8 billion, describing the action as a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and disrupt illicit financial operations linked to the suspects.
According to the NDLEA, the wanted suspects are believed to be key figures in a sophisticated drug trafficking syndicate involved in the distribution of illicit narcotics within Nigeria and across international borders.
The agency disclosed that the court-approved asset freeze is intended to prevent the suspects from accessing or transferring funds believed to be proceeds of drug-related activities while investigations continue.
NDLEA urged members of the public with credible information on the whereabouts of the wanted individuals to immediately report to the nearest NDLEA command or other security agencies, assuring that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking, dismantling criminal networks, and ensuring that individuals involved in the narcotics trade are brought to justice.
The latest development underscores the NDLEA’s sustained offensive against drug cartels, money laundering, and other organised criminal activities, as authorities intensify efforts to protect communities from the devastating impact of illegal drugs.
Security experts say the freezing of assets worth N9.8 billion represents one of the agency’s significant financial enforcement actions, aimed at weakening the operational capacity of suspected drug syndicates and deterring future criminal activities.
