PDP’s Sheriff trounces APC’s Omo-Agege to clinch Delta governorship seat
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, has floored the much expected flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to clinch the just-concluded Delta State gubernatorial seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declaring Sheriff the winner on Monday, said he defeated his major opponents, including the much-touted Omo-Agege with 360,234 votes, as the incumbent Deputy Senate President (Omo-Agege) polled 240,229, just as APGA’s Chief Great Ogboru, got 11,029 votes.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Udoh-Tom, said Sheriff won 21 out of the 25 local government areas collated in the state to defeat his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege.
Out of the 25 local governments in the state, of which PDP’s Sheriff won in 21, APC’s Omo-Agege won the remaining four local government areas, he said.
