Ondo Suspends 27 Secondary School Students Indefinitely Over Misconduct
The Ondo State Government has indefinitely suspended 27 students of a public secondary school over alleged acts of serious misconduct and unruly behaviour.
The disciplinary action followed investigations into the students’ involvement in activities considered to be in violation of the school’s code of conduct. Education authorities said the decision was taken to maintain discipline, protect the learning environment, and uphold acceptable standards of behaviour in public schools across the state.
According to officials, the students were found to have engaged in conduct that disrupted academic activities and undermined the authority of school management. The government stressed that indiscipline would not be tolerated in any public educational institution.
The Ministry of Education explained that the suspension serves as both a corrective measure and a deterrent to other students who may contemplate similar acts. It noted that schools are expected to remain safe, orderly and conducive environments for learning.
Authorities also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening discipline, moral values and academic excellence in schools, while urging parents and guardians to play active roles in instilling good character and responsible behaviour in their children.
The government maintained that collaboration between parents, teachers and school administrators is essential to raising disciplined and responsible students capable of contributing positively to society.
The suspension takes immediate effect, with the affected students expected to remain out of school pending further directives from the relevant education authorities.
