Gombe ADC Denies Accessing INEC Candidate Portal, Rejects Atiku’s Allegations
The Gombe State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed allegations by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that it unlawfully accessed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidate portal.
The state chapter described the claims as false, misleading and capable of damaging the image of the party and its members.
Addressing journalists, officials of the Gombe ADC maintained that neither the state chapter nor any of its authorised officers gained access to the INEC portal or engaged in any activity that violated the electoral body’s regulations.
The party insisted that all its activities have been conducted in line with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines, stressing that it remains committed to transparency, internal democracy and due process.
The Gombe chapter urged party members and the general public to disregard what it called unfounded allegations, adding that there was no evidence linking the state chapter to any unauthorised access to the electoral commission’s digital platform.
The development follows Atiku Abubakar’s recent accusation that INEC unlawfully granted an ADC faction access to its candidate nomination portal, a claim that has generated debate within political circles. INEC has maintained that its systems were not externally compromised and has launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the controversy.
The Gombe ADC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening democratic processes and pledged continued cooperation with INEC and other relevant authorities to ensure credible preparations for the 2027 general elections.
