Tinubu Promises Increased Federal Support for States to Boost Development
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with state governments to accelerate development across Nigeria.
The President made this known while receiving a delegation of political leaders from Enugu State at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The delegation, led by Governor Peter Mbah, expressed support for Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms.
Tinubu emphasized that the Federal Government would continue to support key infrastructure projects, including rail development, power sector improvements, and other critical initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth at the state level.
He noted that Nigeria’s development challenges over the years were largely due to poor long-term planning, particularly the use of short-term funding for long-term infrastructure projects, which he said hindered sustainable progress.
The President, however, expressed optimism that stronger cooperation between federal and state governments would place the country on a path to lasting development and economic stability. He highlighted improvements in sectors such as security, education, healthcare, and infrastructure in some states as signs of progress.
Tinubu also stressed the importance of inclusive governance, urging state leaders to extend development efforts to local governments to ensure broader impact at the grassroots level.
“It is not a one-man effort; it requires collaboration at all levels—federal, state, and local governments,” he said, reiterating his administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
The visit further reflected growing political support for the President, as members of the delegation commended federal interventions and expressed confidence in the administration’s vision for national development.
