Olubadan Row: Makinde, Ladoja Dismiss Fayose’s Alleged Dethronement Claim
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, have dismissed claims by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, alleging a plot to dethrone the traditional ruler.
Fayose had earlier alleged that there was a plan to remove the Olubadan from office, claiming that the process would begin with an official query over his alleged absence at a recent chieftaincy-related ceremony in Ibadan.
However, both the state government and the Olubadan’s palace rejected the allegation, describing it as false, misleading, and without any factual basis.
According to government representatives, no such discussion or plan had ever been considered by the administration, stressing that the claims were politically motivated and intended to create unnecessary tension.
The Olubadan’s palace also confirmed that there is no crisis between the monarch and the state government, adding that the traditional institution continues to maintain a cordial relationship with the Oyo State leadership.
The development highlights how political narratives and speculation have continued to circulate ahead of sensitive traditional and political events in the state, despite official denials from all parties involved.
