Ogun NUJ applauds Gov.Abiodun over the appointment of Tunde Kassim as GM, Ogun State Television
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council commended the Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun on the confirmation of Mr Tunde Kassim as the substantive General Manager of the Ogun State Television(OGTV).
This commendation was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju and Comrade Bunmi Adigun.
The union said the appointment further attests that Governor Dapo Abiodun has a listening ear and follows all his promises till they are actualised and further gives Journalists in Ogun State and most especially members of Staff of the Ogun State Television a sense of belonging.
The Union opined that Mr Tunde Kassim, a thoroughbred professional is indeed a right peg in a round hole who has been on the line of leadership at the State Television station before his service was transferred to the Ministry on Information and Strategy.
When the station ran into crisis, the mission to salvage the situation and return the station to its pride of place fell on him again as he was returned in acting capacity and had since turned the station around in news contents, introduction of new programmes among them ‘Reporters Lounge’ that have made the station compete favourably with other television stations in Nigeria.
The Union therefore appreciates the Governor for being proactive and assured him of its support.
The Union again reminded the Governor that with his media team taking shape. it is advisable that worthy professionals are appointed as Chief Press Secretary, Commissioner for Information and Strategy and other media consultants as the peace so enjoyed in the industry at the moment cannot be compromised.
