Ogun East APC Endorses Dapo Abiodun for 2027 Senate Election
Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Dapo Abiodun as their consensus candidate for the 2027 Senate election.
The endorsement was announced during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, where party leaders and grassroots representatives gathered in large numbers to declare their support.
The meeting brought together members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), serving and former local government chairmen, current and past lawmakers at both state and national levels, councillors from all wards, as well as youth and women leaders across Ogun East.
Speaking on behalf of stakeholders, former senator Lekan Mustapha said the endorsement was based on a shared belief in Abiodun’s leadership capacity and competence to represent Ogun East effectively in the Senate.
He disclosed that party leaders would formally communicate the decision to the governor, including a commitment to purchase his nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We will constitute a delegation to deliver this message to our governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate,” Mustapha said, describing Abiodun as a leader with strong character and sound intellect.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, described the endorsement as historic and reflective of the governor’s achievements in governance and party unity.
“This unanimous endorsement shows that Prince Dapo Abiodun is widely trusted and considered the best choice to represent Ogun East at the Senate,” Talabi stated.
Also speaking, House of Representatives member Femi Ogunbanwo, representing Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode and Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, commended the governor’s administration for promoting peace and development across Ogun State. He expressed confidence that Abiodun would attract more democratic dividends to Ogun East if elected to the Senate.
Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Afolabi Odulate, also praised the governor’s performance and urged him to accept the senatorial bid.
The event witnessed participation from all 103 councillors across the nine local governments in Ogun East, alongside youth leaders and grassroots mobilisers, highlighting the broad-based support for the governor.
Prominent APC figures at the meeting included former senators Gbenga Kaka and Lekan Mustapha, Ogun East APC Chairman Adedoyin Adeleke, and party elders such as Kola Ogunjobi, Bayo Dayo, Durojaye, Pegba Otemolu, James Dina, and Osibote Amoran.
Members of the House of Representatives from the district, including Adesola Elegbeji, Joseph Adegbesan, and Femi Ogunbanwo, also attended in solidarity, reinforcing the widespread backing for Governor Abiodun’s anticipated 2027 senatorial ambition.
