NYCN Honours Ogun LG Chair., Shomide  As Grand Patron

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN,  has honoured the transition committee  chairman, Abeokuta south local government, Hon. Ayodeji Shomide as their grand patron.

The honour was bestowed on him on Wednesday during investiture ceremony as grand Patron and inauguration of executive members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), at the local government Secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

While presenting the Grand-Patron Certicate to Hon. Shomide, the coordinator of the organization, Comrade Adeshina Fatai  praised the sterling leadership qualities of the LG Boss as shown through the inclusiveness of youths in his government is worthy of appreciation.

Meanwhile, the chairman, Hon. Ayodeji Shomide called on Ogun State youths to be agents of change and good  Ambassadors.

Shomide also condemned  the growing rate of drug abuse among the youths.

He called on the new youths leaders in the council area to join the fight against drug abuse and be an advocate of change in their new positions.

The LG Chair stressed the need for the government at all levels to be committed to activities of youths so as to bridge the gap between the young and older generations, adding that it is imperative to engage a reasonable number of youths in governance.

He appreciated the youths council for supporting the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun in the state.

“I am happy to receive this honour from NYCN and proud to be a youth leader. They said youths are the leaders of tomorrow, but your tomorrow starts today.

“I want to enjoin you to be good to those coming behind you. Let us work together to bring out the best from our youths. If you look around, there is growing trend of drug abuse among the youths, so I’m bringing you on board of the taskforce to speak against drug abuse in our society.

Also the state Chairman, National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Abdul Gafar Ayelagbe commended Hon. Shomide for his giant strides in the local government.

He thanked the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun and local government Chairman for assisting the youths during the covid-19 lockdown in the state, urging the youths to continue rendering their supports at all times.

The chairman enumerated various policies and programmes initiated by the present administration which has impacted positively on the youths in the state to include employment opportunities, empowerment schemes, skills and acquisition training, among others.

He said every Local Government Chairman should be honoured as the grand patron of Local Government chapters of the organization in accordance with the Act of Parliament that established the youth council.

Earlier, The NYCN local government coordinator, Comrade Adesina Fatai praised the sterling leadership qualities of the LG Boss as shown through the inclusiveness of youths in his government is worthy of appreciation.
