NNPP asks Ogun speaker to resign over “massive” corruption, forgeries
…urges EFCC to release investigation report on Ogun Assembly
The Ogun State Chapter of New Nigeria People’s Party ( NNPP ) has written a Petition to the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa on the Publication of the findings of commission on the allegation of corruption and forgeries against the Ogun state speaker, Kunle Oluomo and other culpable lawmakers in the Assembly.
The State Chairman of NNPP in the State, Comrade Oginni Olaposi also called for the immediate resignation of Ogun speaker so as to ensure proper investigation.
The received copy of the petition stamped by the anti-graft agency and obtained by newsmen was written by the NNPP Chairman.
Olaposi in the petition lamented that some powerful people are allegedly trying to stop the investigation reports of EFCC didn’t see the light of the day.
The NNPP Chairman urged the EFCC boss to use his good office to ensure the report is made public and any lawmaker found culpable and indicted is made to face prosecution with immediate effect.
The petition further reads, “recognising the fact that some unscrupulous elements are trying to make sure that the reports of the Investigation of EFCC didn’t see the light of the day, the Ogun State Chapter of New Nigeria People’s Party is hereby calling Your attention as the Chairman of EFCC to please use Your Good Office to ensure that the Investigative Report of EFCC on OGHAS is made public and any officer found culpable and indicted is made to face prosecution with immediate effect.
“Realizing the fact that One of the major reason for the establishment of EFCC is to sanitize our society most especially public institutions from Corruption and financial Crimes, it therefore become Necessary that Any Ogun State House of Assembly Member that is indicted in the ongoing probe by EFCC is made to be prosecuted no matter how highly placed.
“The New Nigeria People’s Party and Entire People of Ogun State are looking forward to the Publication of the Reports of EFCC on Ogun State House of Assembly as a matter of Urgency.”
Speaking on resignation of Ogun speaker, Olaposi insisted the speaker must step down to ensure a proper and unbiased Investigation.
The NNPP chair noted that the opposition party is interested in a process and procedures of Investigation that is acceptable to all including the alleged Speaker.
He added, “As a stakeholder, the Ogun State NNPP is hereby calling on the Ogun State Speaker of House of Assembly to step aside for a Proper and unbiased Investigation.
“Hon. Olumo needed to step down as OGHAS SPEAKER for unhindered Investigation to take place.
“We are very interested in a process and procedures of Investigation that is acceptable to all including the alleged Speaker.
“Therefore, the EFCC as a matter of Urgency must ensure that it’s findings are made public with immediate effect. Any Attempt to sweep the Report under the carpet shall be seriously no resisted.”
