Late Dipo Diya : Tola Banjo commiserates with family, People of Odogbolu


A Former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the State, Rt. Hon. Tola Banjo has commiserated with the people of Odogbolu over the demise of their illustrious son Lt. General Oladipo Diya.
Late Diya who was a former Chief of General Staff during the regime of former Head State, General Sani Abacha whom he described ‘as a leader in every right, patriotic statesman, courageous and public servant bade the world farewell in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 78.
In a condolence message signed by the Ogun Ex-lawmaker, Hon. Tola Banjo said “From his track record as a second in command to General Sani Abacha, it was clear that late Diya was a man trusted to carry out important state functions in the interest of National development,”
“He was always passionate elder Statesman, and showed competence, dedication and an ability to work with everyone to bring about the greater good. He will be sorely missed.”
The former Deputy Speaker described General Diya’s death as a colossal loss not only to the people of Odogbolu but to the entire Nation as he died when the value of his experience is needed to help wiggle Nigeria out of trouble waters.
“The history of Nigeria’s return to Democracy in 1999 would be incomplete without copious reference to late Diya’s sacrifice, courage and commitment to Nation building Afterwards”, he said.
