Jigawa Police Seize 24 Vehicles Over Fake Number Plates, Illegal Tinted Glass
The Jigawa State Police Command has impounded 24 vehicles during a statewide enforcement operation targeting the use of fake vehicle registration number plates and unauthorized tinted glass, as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities.
According to the command, the operation was carried out across strategic locations in the state following increased concerns over the use of unregistered and improperly identified vehicles by criminal elements. Police officers intercepted several vehicles found to be violating existing traffic and security regulations.
The command disclosed that some of the vehicles were fitted with fake or irregular number plates, while others had tinted windows installed without the required permits. Authorities said the exercise was aimed at enhancing public safety, improving vehicle identification, and preventing the misuse of vehicles for criminal purposes.
The police warned motorists against violating laws regulating vehicle registration and tinted glass permits, stressing that offenders would be prosecuted in accordance with the law. Vehicle owners were advised to regularize their documents and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
