NCAA Approves New Airline, Binani Air Set to Begin Commercial Flights
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Binani Air Global Services, clearing the airline to commence scheduled flight operations in the country.
The certificate was presented during a ceremony held in Abuja on March 18, 2026. The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, described the approval as a significant milestone, noting that the airline’s emergence reflects progress in Nigeria’s aviation sector, particularly as a female-led initiative in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
He commended the airline’s leadership, led by Senator Aishatu Binani, for successfully navigating the rigorous certification process. Najomo, however, stressed that securing the licence is only the beginning, urging the airline to maintain strict adherence to safety standards, professionalism, and operational discipline.
In her remarks, the airline’s founder expressed appreciation to the NCAA for its support and guidance throughout the certification journey, describing the process as demanding but rewarding. She also acknowledged the role of the federal government in creating an enabling environment for the aviation industry to grow.
The approval now positions Binani Air to join Nigeria’s expanding list of domestic carriers, with expectations that it will contribute to improved connectivity and competition within the aviation sector.
