FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration
The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made in a statement issued Monday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. According to the statement, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
The minister congratulated all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, urging them to emulate the values of sacrifice and unwavering faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him).
“Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith and to use the festive period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement read.
He reassured Nigerians that the reforms and initiatives introduced under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are aimed at restoring Nigeria’s progress and national pride.
“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyous Eid-ul-Adha, the minister urged all Nigerians to support the present administration’s drive to restore Nigeria’s glory as a great nation,” it added.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s will.
