Buratai Denies Opposition Coalition Allegations, Reaffirms Loyalty to Tinubu and APC
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (retd.), has dismissed reports suggesting he is backing any opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Buratai clarified that he has not aligned with any political opposition group and remains committed to the stability and progress of Nigeria under the current administration. His statement comes amid growing political speculation and realignment within Nigeria’s opposition ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The former military chief stressed that his position should not be misinterpreted or linked to political propaganda, noting that national unity and democratic stability remain his priority.
He also reiterated support for the leadership of President Tinubu, dismissing rumours of defection or involvement in coalition talks as unfounded and misleading.
The clarification is seen as part of ongoing political positioning among key figures as parties begin informal preparations for the 2027 elections.
