Breaking: All Kidnapped Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers Rescued After Weeks in Captivity
All the schoolchildren and teachers abducted during the attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending several weeks in captivity, bringing relief to their families, the state government and concerned Nigerians.
The victims were kidnapped when heavily armed gunmen invaded schools in the Ahoro-Esiele axis of Oriire LGA, forcing students, teachers and residents into panic. The incident triggered widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over the safety of schools and rural communities across the country.
Security agencies, working in collaboration with other relevant authorities, intensified search and rescue operations following the abduction. Their sustained efforts eventually led to the successful rescue of all the victims, marking a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes in the region.
Although security authorities are yet to release full details of the operation, officials confirmed that all the abducted schoolchildren and teachers were rescued safely. The development has been welcomed by residents, education stakeholders and community leaders who had repeatedly appealed for the victims’ unconditional release.
The abduction had attracted national attention, with political leaders, civil society organisations, religious groups and education advocates calling for urgent government intervention and stronger security measures to protect schools from criminal attacks.
The successful rescue is expected to restore confidence among parents and residents, even as many Nigerians continue to urge the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent future attacks on educational institutions and vulnerable communities.
