Atiku Calls for Tinubu’s Resignation and Apology Over Alleged PFIPC Scandal
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly apologise to Nigerians and resign over the alleged PFIPC scandal, escalating the political controversy surrounding the issue.
In a statement, Atiku alleged that the controversy raises serious concerns about accountability, transparency and governance, insisting that the Federal Government owes Nigerians a full explanation over the circumstances surrounding the alleged scandal. He argued that public officials must be held to the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.
The former presidential candidate maintained that the allegations have generated widespread public interest and should be subjected to an independent and transparent investigation. According to him, such a probe is necessary to establish the facts, restore public confidence and reinforce the principles of democratic governance.
Atiku further contended that leadership requires accepting responsibility for actions taken under an administration, urging President Tinubu to demonstrate accountability in the face of the allegations. He said Nigerians deserve openness and clarity on issues affecting public institutions and the management of government affairs.
The Presidency has consistently defended the administration’s policies and actions on matters of public concern, while supporters of the government have dismissed opposition criticisms as politically motivated.
