At 50, Humanitarian Commits ₦20 Million to Support Vulnerable Nigerians
A renowned humanitarian and advocate for social justice has marked his 50th birthday with a remarkable act of generosity, announcing the establishment of a ₦20 million Trust Fund aimed at supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), vulnerable children, and persons living with disabilities.
Rather than hosting lavish celebrations to commemorate the milestone, the celebrant chose to dedicate the occasion to a cause that reflects his lifelong commitment to compassion, inclusion, and service to humanity.
In a statement released to mark his golden jubilee, he expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the gift of life and reflected on the experiences that have shaped his passion for helping society’s most vulnerable members.
According to him, decades of interactions with survivors of abuse, disadvantaged children, persons with disabilities, and struggling families reinforced his belief that every individual deserves dignity, protection, and access to opportunities regardless of their circumstances.
“Fifty years is a significant milestone often celebrated with grandeur and fanfare. However, I have come to understand that the greatest celebration lies not in what we receive but in what we give to others,” he stated.
The newly established Trust Fund will focus on providing support, empowerment, and opportunities for beneficiaries, while also promoting advocacy initiatives aimed at reducing gender-based violence and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups.
To demonstrate his commitment to the initiative, the celebrant, with the support of his spouse, announced a seed donation of ₦20 million to kick-start the project.
He noted that the fund would be managed by professionals with proven integrity and expertise to ensure transparency, accountability, and maximum impact in the lives of beneficiaries.
Describing the initiative as a reflection of his core values of empathy, justice, compassion, and inclusion, he emphasized that no member of society should be left behind.
The philanthropist also called on individuals, corporate organisations, development partners, and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative and join the effort to create lasting change in communities across the country.
He stressed that collective responsibility and purposeful giving remain powerful tools for addressing social challenges and restoring hope to vulnerable populations.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I invite everyone not merely to celebrate a birthday but to celebrate the power of kindness, compassion, and shared responsibility. Together, we can transform hope into reality and create a future where more lives are restored, empowered, and uplifted,” he added.
The announcement has been widely commended by social advocates and community leaders, who described the initiative as a model of purposeful leadership and philanthropy.
The Trust Fund is expected to provide a sustainable platform for intervention, support, and empowerment, bringing hope to survivors of abuse, disadvantaged children, and persons with disabilities while strengthening social inclusion efforts across Nigeria.
