APC Strengthens Kano Base as Shekarau, Gwarzo, Bagobiri Join Party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinforced its political strength in Kano State following the official defection of prominent political figures, including former governor Ibrahim Shekarau and former Senate Chief Whip Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, alongside Bagobiri, into the party.
In a statement by the APC State Publicity Secretary, the party described the development as a major boost to its grassroots influence and electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party expressed satisfaction in welcoming the three political heavyweights, noting that their experience and political structures would further consolidate APC’s presence in Kano.
The reception ceremony took place in Giginyu Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area, where Shekarau was formally presented with his APC membership card. The event was attended by key party leaders and stakeholders, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other top APC officials. Party leaders emphasized that the wave of defections signals growing confidence in APC’s leadership and its vision for future elections.
