All religion deserves equal opportunities under the law – Soyinka to Tinubu, demands annual public holiday for traditionalists

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has called on President Bola Tinubu led Federal Government to declare a national public holiday for traditionalists in the country.
He spoke against the backdrop of his 89th birthday celebration.
Soyinka said traditionalists had been neglected for too long in the nation, saying they have had enough.
According to him, it was about time they demanded, on behalf of traditional religions, an annual holiday like Islam and Christianity.
“We’ve had enough, We’ve had enough of being second-class citizens in this nation. So, equal time, equal space, we demand public holidays,” he said.
Soyinka said he and other traditionalists demanded a national holiday from state governments, local governments, and the Federal Government.
The Nobel laureate also called on security agencies to reopen unresolved cases of religious killings across the country.
