FMC , Abeokuta Seeks FG’s Assistance On Completion Of Tele-Medicine Project
The Federal Medical Center, Idi Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has appealed to the federal government to release the sum of 69million naira for the completion of the ongoing Tele- Medicine and Conference center in the hospital.
The medical director of the institution, Isa Olomu disclosed this when a team of Independent Corrupt Practices And Other related Offences Commission, ICPC, visited the hospital to inspect some constituency projects.
Olomu noted that he convinced Senator Lanre Tejuosho to build the center in the institution.
Olomu however added that the project is yet to be completed, saying that the hospital needs a sum of 69million naira to complete it.
He said “Before this Tele- Medicine center was built we have interacted with our senator in our area, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, although he had another plan before but we convinced him that this health institution is for almost every Nigerian and the patronage is everywhere across the country that we needed this center.
“We told Tejuosho that, this is an institution that has existed for 27 years without a conference hall where we can do international conferences. He agreed and today, am happy that we are here to see how far we have gone.
“When I got here in 2017, there was no hall, if I want to meet my staffs, we have to go under a canopy and chairs.
”The last one we had a meeting, it was a raining day and the wind blew the canopy and everyone was running helter skelter , and I promised them that, that will be the last time we would have a meeting under canopy and today we thank God I was able to convince the senator, lanre Tejuoso. Thank God, This place is very useful to us.
“We are trying to establish a University so that we can make this place a teaching hospital. This also will be useful for our students, where lecturers will bring in their students, teach them through projector.
“This place is a tele-medicine center which we want to appeal to our government to please help us release the balance of 69 million naira so that the contractors can use it to purchase telemedcine equipments so that we will be able to communicate with medical schools across the world that we are already partnering with.
“Furniture is remaining and it’s not part of the project, it’s quite enormous, if the government can still give us another money we will be very happy. He concluded.
