Ogun 2027: Kayode Oladele Criticises PDP Over Adebutu’s Governorship Ambition

Ogun 2027: Kayode Oladele Criticises PDP Over Adebutu’s Governorship Ambition
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Oladele, has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its continued support for the governorship ambition of its 2023 candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
Oladele argued that the PDP had failed to learn from previous electoral setbacks, insisting that presenting Adebutu again as its standard-bearer would not improve the party’s chances in the next governorship contest. He maintained that Ogun residents are more interested in continuity of development and credible leadership than political rhetoric.
The APC stalwart also questioned the opposition party’s strategy, saying the PDP should focus on rebuilding its internal structure instead of relying on what he described as a familiar political approach that had failed to convince the electorate in previous elections. He expressed confidence that the ruling APC remains well-positioned to retain power in Ogun State in 2027.
Oladele further stated that the APC-led administration in Ogun State has recorded achievements in infrastructure, economic growth and social development, which he said would strengthen the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 polls. According to him, the electorate will assess political parties based on their performance, leadership quality and capacity to deliver democratic dividends.
His remarks come as political activities continue to gather momentum across Ogun State, with major political parties intensifying consultations, endorsements and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the next governorship election. Both the APC and PDP are expected to play significant roles in what is shaping up to be another keenly contested race.
