President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, marking the second time his appointment has been extended within a year.
The latest approval is aimed at enabling the Customs chief to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete key initiatives considered critical to Nigeria’s trade, revenue generation and border security objectives. The decision underscores the Federal Government’s confidence in Adeniyi’s leadership and the progress recorded under his administration.
Adeniyi, who was initially appointed as Acting Comptroller-General in June 2023 before his confirmation later that year, has overseen several modernization efforts within the Nigeria Customs Service.
