Driver Dies After SUV Overturns on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria – Tragedy struck on Saturday after a driver lost his life in a fatal lone accident along the busy Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.
The deadly crash occurred around the Charity Bus Stop area inward Iyana Isolo when a Honda Pilot Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) reportedly lost control and overturned multiple times before coming to a halt.
Eyewitness accounts and preliminary findings revealed that the impact of the accident was severe, leaving the vehicle extensively damaged and trapping the driver inside the wreckage.
Emergency responders and traffic officials swiftly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue and recovery operations. However, the victim was confirmed dead due to the injuries sustained during the crash.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who were on routine traffic monitoring duty in the area, immediately secured the accident scene and coordinated efforts with police operatives to prevent further incidents and ease traffic congestion along the busy expressway.
Following the recovery exercise, the remains of the deceased were evacuated to a public mortuary, while the damaged vehicle was handed over to security authorities for further investigation into the cause of the crash.
