2027 Election: Why Northern Nigeria Will Back Tinubu — Kaduna Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has expressed confidence that Northern Nigeria will strongly support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists on a national media tour, the governor said the North has benefited significantly from the policies and developmental projects of the current administration, positioning Tinubu as a top choice for re-election.
Governor Sani highlighted major infrastructure and security improvements as key factors driving support for the president. He cited the approval of critical projects in Kaduna State, including a proposed light rail system and the long-neglected Mandu–Birnin Gwari road, as clear signs of the administration’s commitment to the region.
He also noted improvements in security, particularly in previously troubled areas like Birnin Gwari. According to him, residents can now move more freely without military escort, marking a significant shift from the situation before 2023.
The governor maintained that these achievements reflect the president’s efforts to address longstanding challenges in the North, especially insecurity and infrastructural deficits. He added that Kaduna State remains firmly aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress, with minimal opposition influence.
Addressing concerns about regional imbalance, Sani dismissed claims of bias, insisting that federal investments across Northern Nigeria demonstrate inclusive governance.
Meanwhile, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga pointed to key economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and foreign exchange unification, as measures that have boosted revenue allocations to states and enabled development projects nationwide.
Governor Sani concluded that, based on these gains, Northern voters are likely to support President Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.
