Rejected by UNILAG Over Age, Student Emerges Top Graduate at Landmark University
A Nigerian student, David Fetuga, has shared an inspiring story of resilience after being denied admission into University of Lagos due to age restrictions, only to later excel academically at Landmark University.
Fetuga revealed that his dream of studying at UNILAG was cut short when he was considered underage for admission despite meeting other requirements. The setback, however, did not deter him from pursuing higher education.
He eventually secured admission into Landmark University, where he distinguished himself through outstanding academic performance. At the institution’s graduation ceremony, Fetuga emerged as the second overall best graduating student, marking a remarkable turnaround from his earlier disappointment.
Reflecting on his journey, he noted that what initially felt like a rejection turned out to be a redirection that shaped his success. His achievement has since been seen as a testament to perseverance, discipline, and the importance of staying focused despite setbacks.
Fetuga’s story underscores how obstacles in academic pursuits can sometimes open doors to even greater opportunities, inspiring many young Nigerians facing similar challenges.
