Fani‑Kayode Slams Dele Momodu Over Abacha Comparison of Tinubu

Former Minister of Aviation and Nigeria’s Ambassador‑designate to Germany, Femi Fani‑Kayode, has strongly criticised media personality and politician Dele Momodu after Momodu likened President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the late military ruler Sani Abacha.
The dispute follows Momodu’s recent television interview in which he described Tinubu’s leadership style as potentially dictatorial and drew comparisons with Abacha’s regime — a remark that drew fire from Fani‑Kayode.
Responding on social media, Fani‑Kayode called the comparison unfair and disrespectful, saying Momodu sounded “drained, tired and broken” during the interview. He urged Momodu to reconsider his focus, suggesting he take a break from commentary and “overhaul his intellectual engine.”
Fani‑Kayode also challenged the credibility of the opposition party to which Momodu belongs, suggesting they should concentrate on building a stronger political platform instead of regularly attacking the current government. He described the party as lacking organisation, direction, and strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
