FCT Minister Cracks Down on Illegal Estate, Orders Demolition of Guzape Development

In a bold move to uphold the integrity of Abuja’s urban planning, Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate demolition of a sprawling residential estate illegally built on land strictly designated for park and recreation in Guzape.
The directive comes after a routine inspection exposed the shocking violation of the Abuja Master Plan. The minister slammed the developers for flouting the law, declaring, “This land was allocated for park and recreation, not for illegal estates. Such flagrant disregard for regulations will not be tolerated.”
According to Wike, some developers have long exploited loopholes, hoping that successive administrations would turn a blind eye and eventually legitimize their illegal projects. “Those days are over,” he warned, sending a strong signal that deliberate violations of land-use laws will face decisive action.
The demolition order underscores the FCTA’s unwavering commitment to preserving public spaces and maintaining order in Nigeria’s capital. It also serves as a stern reminder to all developers that the era of impunity is coming to an end.
As heavy machinery prepares to flatten the unauthorized structures, Abuja residents watch closely, seeing in this decisive action a clear message: the city’s planning laws are non-negotiable, and anyone who undermines them will face the full force of enforcement.
