Tinubu and First Lady Launch Historic UK State Visit to Strengthen Nigeria–Britain Ties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Remi Tinubu, have begun a significant two‑day state visit to the United Kingdom, marking a historic milestone for Nigeria.
The presidential delegation departed from Abuja on Tuesday at the invitation of Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort. This visit is among the first by a Nigerian leader to the UK in decades, underscoring the importance of deepening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
During the programme, President Tinubu is scheduled to receive a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle and hold bilateral talks with UK officials, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and infrastructure are expected to be signed.
A key highlight of the visit will be the witnessing of a £746 million financing agreement to support upgrades at major Nigerian ports, strengthening economic and infrastructure collaboration.
The historic visit also serves as a platform to reinforce diplomatic relations, promote cultural exchange, and explore opportunities that benefit both countries.
