NNPC Declares N905bn Profit in June, Remits N6.96tn to FG in Five Months

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reported a profit after tax of N905 billion for the month of June 2025, alongside a total statutory remittance of N6.96 trillion to the Federation Account between January and May.

These figures were contained in the state-owned oil giant’s Monthly Financial and Operations Report Summary released late Monday in Abuja.

Although June’s profit marked a dip from N1.054 trillion posted in May, the company showed resilience in revenue generation and operational growth. Revenue for June stood at N4.571 trillion, reflecting a decline from N6.008 trillion in the previous month—largely influenced by fluctuations in global oil prices.

Upstream performance improved with daily crude oil and condensate production rising to 1.68 million barrels per day (bpd) in June, the highest recorded in 2025 so far. This compares with 1.629 million bpd produced in May. Additionally, natural gas output climbed to 7.581 billion standard cubic feet per day, up from 7.352 billion scf/d.

Fuel distribution metrics also showed positive movement, as petrol availability at NNPC retail stations rose to 71 percent in June, up from 62 percent in May.

Progress was also recorded on major infrastructure projects:

  • The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline advanced to 83 percent completion, up from 81 percent.

  • The OB3 pipeline remained at 96 percent completion.

  • Notably, the successful crossing of the River Niger section of the AKK project was hailed as a milestone that significantly de-risked pipeline completion.

Meanwhile, upstream pipeline availability slightly dipped from 98 percent in May to 97 percent in June, and technical evaluations of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries continue.

In its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, NNPC conducted a Financial Literacy Programme that trained over 67,000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in June alone, bringing the cumulative total to 870,383 corps members nationwide.

The company’s robust performance underscores its critical role as a major revenue contributor to the federal government amid sustained economic reforms and fiscal pressure.
