EFCC Warns Public About 58 Illegal Ponzi Scheme Operators Targeting Nigerians

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued an alert to the public, warning about 58 companies posing as legitimate investment entities while defrauding Nigerians of their hard-earned money. These operators, which are not registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), have been identified as illegal Ponzi scheme operators. Both regulatory bodies have confirmed to the EFCC that these companies are not registered with them.

As part of its ongoing efforts to clean up the financial landscape, the EFCC has already charged many of these companies to court. Five have been convicted, another five have pleaded guilty and are awaiting the review of facts, while the remaining cases are pending arraignment.
