It will be glitz and glamour in the city of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital this weekend as renowned journalist and Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor of Ogun state and Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Lanre Akinwale celebrates his 40th Birthday in style.
The two in one event will not only witness the birthday celebration of the versatile media personality who has spent most of his life serving and helping people by adding values but also used the occasion to launch his book “Beauty for Ashes” as well as honorary recognition of eminent personalities who had not only distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavors but also contributes to the growth and development of their communities.
Teach us to number our days, so that we may put our hearts on the path of Wisdom, so says the book of Psalm, Chapter 90 verse 12.
Testament of the love that radiates around him, all his friends, close associates, political bigwigs, celebrities including the downtrodden are leaving no stone unturned to celebrate him.
The event is set to take place on Saturday the 16th of April at the Dove Hall, Providence Hotels and Suites, Leme, Abiola- way, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

WHO IS LANRE AKINWALE ?
Lanre Akinwale was born on Friday, 16th April, 1982 to Late Chief & Mrs Ayinla Akinwale of Onsa’s Compound, Oke-Sokori, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Young Lanre began his educational career at the famous Owu African Church Central Primary School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta, between the year 1988 and 1993.
He later proceeded to St Leo’s College, Onikoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State, in 1993 for his secondary education.
As a student of St Leo’s College, Lanre was renowned for academic excellence; he represented and won prizes and laurels for the school, on several occasions during inter-school competitions, such as Literary and Debate, Quiz and Sports competitions which endeared him to many of his teachers and students.
Being an Arts student, Lanre belonged to the school drama group.
He was also the Social Prefect of the 1999 set of St Leo’s College, Onikoko Abeokuta.
For self development, and In pursuant of more knowledge in the field of Arts and Social Science, Lanre Akinwale proceeded to the prestigious Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to study Mass Communication. where he completed both the Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in flying colours in 2003 and 2006 respectively.
Indeed, he did not just acquire theoretical knowledge but also acquainted himself with relevant practical skills, especially at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA 12) Abeokuta.
He later enrolled for a Post Graduate Diploma programme in Mass Communication at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja, where he passed out on merit.
A thorough – bred journalist with specialisation in both print and electronic media, strategic management, media management, marketing communication and public relations, Lanre Akinwale has over one and a half decades of professional experience spanning Government and Private owned media organisations, corporate individuals and public administration.
His strength of character, journalistic acumen, excellent writing skill, good analytical prowess, and wealth of experience, contributed to the feats he has recorded as a journalist, strategist, writer, public administrator, and author.
Lanre Akinwale started his journalism practice with the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA) Abeokuta in 2003 as a Trainee Reporter, and later became a Stringer covering crime and general beats for the Television station.
In 2011, Lanre was employed by the Degue Broadcasting Network (DBN Television), Lekki, Lagos, as News Editor – the second in the chains of command in a News department.
During his stint at the DBN Television, Lanre Akinwale operated at the management level; he coordinated the activities of the over forty (40) staff of the News & Current Affairs Department of the Television Station, spread across the Lagos, Edo and the Abuja branches of the Television station.
Apart from assigning responsibilities to the staff under his coordination, as well as taking informed journalistic decisions about the daily news bulletins, Lanre Akinwale on several occasions led by example by going on beats to cover news stories, and even cast the News.
In fact, he was instrumental to the resuscitation of the News Department, thereby making the station a preferred choice when it comes to News and Current Affairs.
SERVICE TO HIS DEAR STATE, OGUN
In 2012, Lanre Akinwale left DBN Television to take up a political appointment with the Ogun State Government and was appointed as Personal Assistant to the then Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, and was seconded to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Lanre Akinwale played a pivotal role in the day-to-day activities of the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, including drafting of letters and speeches; planning the Governor’s itinerary, as well as scheduling of appointments for visitors/guests, amongst others.
Lanre Akinwale’s exceptional performance and professional competence paved the way for his re-appointment to the same position on 1st June, 2015, following the re-election of His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA, for 2nd Term.
Barely one year after his re-appointment, Lanre was elevated to the position of Special Assistant to the Governor.
Indeed, his elevation to one of the top positions in the Ogun State Government gave him the opportunities to further contribute to the Mission To Rebuild Ogun State, as encapsulated in the five-cardinal programme of the administration of Senator Amosun.
After the expiration of his appointment in the Ogun State Government in May, 2019, Senator Ibikunle Amosun nominated Lanre Akinwale for another appointment.
This time around, as one of his Legislative Aides at the National Assembly, Abuja. Thus, giving him the opportunity to continue his selfless service to the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ogun State and indeed Nigeria.
In addition, Lanre Akinwale is actively involved in a lot of humanitarian services, and also plays leading roles in community service and religious activities.

He is happily married to his heartthrob, Oluwafunmilayo, and their union is blessed with three children.
A Man of many giants strides in terms of human, grassroot and professional development with an experience of over a decade of selfless Service in both private and public sector management, Lanre Akinwale is truly worthy of celebrating.
