2027: Akinpelu Mobilises Alimosho Residents as PVC Collection Begins
The 2027 general elections are already generating political mobilisation in Lagos, with the Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, urging newly registered voters across the council area to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the polls.
Akinpelu, in a statement issued through his Media Office, described PVC collection as an important step for residents who participated in the recent voter registration exercise, stressing that possession of the card would enable eligible citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The Alimosho council chairman urged residents who successfully completed their registration to visit designated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collection points within the approved collection window and obtain their PVCs.
According to him, political participation should not end with voter registration, noting that residents must complete the process by collecting their cards and preparing to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process.
Akinpelu said, “The Independent National Electoral Commission has set a new date for people who recently registered to collect their Permanent Voter Cards at designated collection points. I encourage everyone who registered to take advantage of this opportunity and collect their PVC.”
He also appealed to members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho to intensify grassroots mobilisation by reaching out to residents who were previously encouraged to register.
The council chairman said party members should ensure that prospective voters are adequately informed about the collection exercise, particularly in communities where residents may not yet be aware that their PVCs are ready for collection.
Beyond voter registration and PVC collection, Akinpelu’s call signals the growing importance of grassroots political mobilisation in Alimosho as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
He further urged APC supporters to use their votes according to their political convictions, while openly advocating support for the party in the 2027 general election.
Akinpelu said the APC remained committed to Nigeria’s future and expressed support for what he described as the ongoing re-engineering of the country under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We are a party that believes in the future of our country, and I believe it is reasonable to support the re-engineering process of the country being championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
With Alimosho regarded as one of Lagos State’s major population centres, voter mobilisation in the area could assume greater political significance as parties and political actors begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
The chairman’s message therefore places renewed emphasis on the importance of voter readiness, grassroots engagement and political participation, while encouraging newly registered residents to complete the electoral process by collecting their PVCs.
As preparations for 2027 gradually gather momentum, the PVC collection exercise is expected to provide another opportunity for political parties, community leaders and stakeholders to deepen voter awareness and participation across Alimosho and other parts of Lagos State.
