2023 : VP Atiku’s Man, Segun Sowunmi declares intention to run for Ogun governorship seat

The spokesman for former vice president Atiku Abubakar campaign organization during the 2019 general elections, Chief Segun Showunmi has declared his interest to contest for the Ogun state governorship seat in the forthcoming election under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

At his declaration ceremony, Segun Sowunmi boasted that People’s Democratic Party PDP is the leading opposition party in Ogun state followed by others.

During his declaration called Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Arcade Ground, Panseke Abeokuta, Chef Segun Showunmi seeked the permission of the thousands members of the party to represent them as the governor come 2023 which they all accepted him with songs and jubilation.

He assured them that his administration will provide infrastructure projects and see to wellbeing of the people in Ogun state through poverty alleviation programmes to ensure the people live comfortable and happily.

Also, the Intra Party Advisory Council, IPAC Southwest led by Comrade Abayomi Arabambi declared their support for Segun Showumi after describing him as a man of exemplary leadership who is worthy of emulation in the society and in politics. 

However, Arabambi saluted Chief Segun Showunmi over his efforts to sustain the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ogun state after some hijackers has caged the party for their selfish interests. 

Showunmi thanked the former governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Otunba Gbenga Justus Daniel, Late Prince Buruji Kashamu, Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Soji Adagunodo, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, Senator Iyorcha Ayu, the engine room of People’s Democratic Party PDP, Governor Nyesom Wike, Rivers state and the zonal and national executives of the party for their efforts in upholding the party in Nigeria. 

“The state government should note that PDP is the only leading opposition party in Ogun State, I appreciate Ladi Adebutu for keeping the party alive in Ogun State, I thank the leader of the party in the Southwest, Seyi Makinde, All the zonal executive, Chief Soji Adagunodo, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, Sen IYORCHA Ayu, National Chairman PDP, Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers state, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Of Adamawa, and other party leaders.” 

“I want to specially recognise the immediate past Governor of Ogun state, Sen Ibikunle Amosun fca, The Only PDP governor in Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Late Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu for their leadership acumen in the state.”  he said.
