Troops, Air Force Neutralise Dozens of Insurgents in Fierce Borno Night Battle

Nigerian troops, supported by air components, successfully repelled a late-night attack by insurgents in Borno State, killing no fewer than 80 fighters during a fierce encounter. The assault, which occurred under the cover of darkness, targeted a military formation but was met with strong resistance and coordinated aerial strikes.
According to military sources, the insurgents launched a well-planned offensive, reportedly deploying advanced tactics, including the use of armed drones. However, troops, acting on credible intelligence, engaged the attackers decisively, inflicting heavy casualties and neutralising several key figures among the group.
Following the clash, troops recovered weapons and other combat equipment abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. The military recorded minimal casualties on its side, with a few injured personnel receiving medical attention.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the North-East, as security forces intensify coordinated ground and air offensives to restore lasting peace in the region.
