Indian Police Arrest Three Nigerian Nationals Over Alleged Drug Trafficking Operation
Indian police have arrested three Nigerian nationals over their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle international narcotics networks operating across the country.
The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch. During the raid, security operatives reportedly recovered 10.27 kilograms of MDMA crystals and 2.044 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, with an estimated street value of about ₹23 crore.
Police identified the suspects as Ambemo Victor (37), Chime Moses (36) and Karikari Ames (33). Investigators alleged that the trio entered India on medical and tourist visas before becoming involved in the illegal drug trade. Preliminary investigations also indicated that the narcotics were supplied by another Nigerian national believed to be based in Delhi.
Authorities said the arrests followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering aimed at disrupting organised drug trafficking activities. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the suspected network and trace the source and distribution channels of the seized narcotics.
Indian law enforcement agencies reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug trafficking and other transnational crimes, warning that anyone found violating the country’s narcotics laws would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The latest operation underscores India’s continued crackdown on organised drug syndicates and its efforts to strengthen collaboration among security agencies in tackling international narcotics trafficking.
