City Boy Movement Defends Lagos CP’s Presence at Inauguration, Warns Against Unauthorised Affiliations
The City Boy Movement has defended the presence of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police at its recent inauguration ceremony, dismissing criticisms surrounding the officer’s attendance and warning individuals and groups against making unauthorised claims of affiliation with the organisation.
In a statement issued after the event, the pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu support group clarified that the Commissioner of Police attended the inauguration in his official capacity as the state’s chief law enforcement officer to ensure adequate security and public order. The movement stressed that the police chief’s presence should not be interpreted as political endorsement or membership of the organisation.
The group described attempts by some individuals to politicise the Commissioner’s attendance as misleading and capable of creating unnecessary controversy. It maintained that security agencies routinely provide protection at public gatherings and official events without implying support for any political organisation or interest group.
The City Boy Movement also cautioned politicians, supporters and other organisations against using its name, logo or identity without proper authorisation. It warned that unauthorised affiliations, false representations and attempts to exploit the movement’s growing popularity would not be tolerated.
According to the organisation, only officially recognised executives and authorised representatives are permitted to speak or act on its behalf. It urged members of the public to verify any statements or activities allegedly linked to the movement through its recognised leadership.
Reaffirming its commitment to promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the City Boy Movement said it would continue to mobilise grassroots support for the administration while operating within the law and respecting democratic principles.
The organisation further called on its members nationwide to remain united, disciplined and focused on advancing its objectives, urging them to ignore misinformation and continue supporting initiatives aimed at national development.
